| Are you willing to sacrifice some EGT reduction for better spooling? Are you willing to give up some bottom end for overall peak performance or sacrifice a little top end performance to maintain some bottom end spooling and towing performance? This is the question you must ask your self when wanting to run a single turbo with some power. Basicly, you have to give up something to get something. Can you afford the cost of twins to get both? Only you can answer this question. There are tradeoffs associated with each turbo and exhaust housing combination. Choosing the right turbo and exhaust housing combination requires careful research and planning.
Selecting the best turbo for your application is only one part of managing EGT's. Effectively managing EGT's requires considering other components such as air intake and exhaust systems as well as camshafts and ported heads. In many cases just adding a larger turbo will not eliminate EGT problems. In most cases a larger turbo will lower peak EGT's and/or increase the length of time it takes to reach peak EGT's. |
