South Bend Clutches

South Bend designs and manufactures performance clutches that are smooth and reliable. Complete kits are available for for both 5 and 6 speed transmissions, and for a variety of horsepower applications. PDR stocks and installs clutches for 1993-2006 Ford Power Stroke diesels.

MU 1939DF
This is a 4 paddle, free travel, Spicer design clutch kit that is available in four different types of materials according to customer's needs: Clutchtex Kevlar®, S K Wellman's Extreme ( Kevlar® & carbon fiber ), S K Wellman's Carbotic or the Meba Ceramic. This style of clutch disk has proven itself in the semi's for the past 20 years. This clutch disk is designed to absorb the vibrations of the diesel and gives the capability of hauling heavy loads without causing premature disk failure. The disk is used with South Bend's modified Valeo pressure plate, bolts directly to the OEM 6 speed solid flywheel, and will handle 400 hp and 900 ft. lbs. of torque. The preferred combination of materials is the Kevlar® and carbotic dual friction. The Kevlar® material is applied to the pressure plate side and the carbotic material to the flywheel side of the clutch disk. The clutch package can be supplied with the updated clutch fork and pivot.
