Here is a picture showing the proper locations to grind when porting a cylinder
head on a Cummins diesel engine. Although this is a 12 V head, the theory applies
to both 12 and 24 Valve heads. As you can see, this will open up the port so it
has the same dimensions throughout its entire length. This results in increased
air flow for lower EGT's. We combine this with a high performance three angle
valve grind. The heads are then flowed on a Super Flow bench, insuring all cylinders
are matched.
