The Goal:
700 RWHP 3rd Gen with Cummins Common Rail engine, on diesel only, with good street manners.
The Result:
Well were not quite there yet.
The Status:
600HP is getting to be fairly common with some reaching 640HP to 650HP range. And the quest for 700 continues. We started back earlier in the summer with PDR Street Twins ( PDR HX40 - PDR H3TB combo ), PDR Cam, a large set of custom injectors, and stacking every combination of boxes available. We did find a combination that made over 700HP on our dyno. However this was not a very drivable combination. This was not a combination that we would want to leave in a truck. So now the quest for 700 streetable horsepower continues.
Next we removed the HX40 and replaced it with a PDR HX35 hybrid turbo and down sized to our "towing twins". These offer better spool up, more streetable manners, as well as excellent towing performance. After that we removed the large set of custom injectors and installed a set of off-the-shelf 90HP DDP injectors. Now to start testing boxes and programmers to find the right combination.
Recently we tried a Xcelerator programmer from Pacific Performance Engineering ( PPE ). The combination of PDR Towing Twins, PDR Cam, DDP Injectors, and PPE programmer made 641HP on our dyno. And with nice drivable, streetable manners. Hmmm... Wonder how this would work stacked with a TST module? Well how about 693HP!! This is with the TST box on level 5. When turned up to level 7 or more it lost horsepower.
Knowing this would be met with some skepticism, we drove to Dyno-Mite Diesel Performance in Monroe WA to compare numbers. We were able to back up our number with a 685HP run.
Some final notes. This combination was using a stock CP3 pump, and had no nitrous or drugs of any kind. This was straight diesel only with the above combination.
